New Features

• You can now sign in to the iOS app with Google, including passkeys.
• You can now run TetherBox as a virtual machine on a spare PC or server. A new guide walks you through installing VirtualBox, importing the TetherBox appliance, switching it to bridged networking so it can see your cameras, and adding a disk for recordings.

Improvements

• The Cameras list now shows the newest cameras first by default, so cameras you have just added are at the top.
• Recording and event pages now use a single layout that adapts to any screen instead of switching between separate mobile and desktop versions. Turn a phone to landscape and the video fits the screen, with the thumbnail strip and extra playback controls (speed, grid, size) tidied away so the picture and its scrub bar are all that remain.
• The recording scrub bar loads a spread of preview thumbnails straight away, so on a slow connection you see progress immediately and can scrub close to the right spot without waiting for the whole timeline to load.
• The live camera wall now re-fits when you rotate a phone, filling the screen rather than leaving the cameras bunched at the top with empty space below.
• On phones in landscape, page content stays clear of the screen notch or cut-out.
• The Site page now has an IMMIX & Sentinel tab where you can view and edit the alarm-receiving-centre settings (send to IMMIX, Sentinel Site ID and device address) and the custom email server settings for that site, editing each field in place. Previously these could only be changed from the separate Site edit form.
• The TetherBox page now has an Events button next to Live, so you can jump straight to all events recorded by that TetherBox.
• Offline alert emails now include a Notification Settings button that takes you straight to your own preferences, and list everyone who was alerted along with a link to change who gets told when that TetherBox goes offline. Previously there was no way to tell from the email who else received it or how to stop receiving them.
• Your notification preferences now live on their own Notifications tab on your profile, so every user can find and change their own alerts. Previously they were tucked inside the Permissions tab, which only administrators, integrators and staff could open.
• Every user now gets the weekly Health Report by default and can switch it on or off from the Notifications tab. Previously only integrators and staff received it, and other users had no way to turn it on for themselves.
• The Two-Factor Authentication help page now explains what makes a valid password, what gets rejected (common passwords, your email address, simple sequences), and gives examples, so it is clear why a password was refused and how to pick a stronger one.
• The connection status popover, and the badge on the TetherBox list, now show while a unit is updating and how long the update has been running. This no longer clears when the unit next checks in part-way through an update, so an update in progress stays visible until it finishes.
• The weekly and monthly Health Reports now show footage gaps over the last 7 days as well as the last 24 hours, so an occasional gap that never crosses the daily threshold still surfaces. A camera with both is listed once, showing each count (for example "12 in 24hr / 40 in 7d"). The daily report is unchanged and still shows only the last 24 hours.
• The report inside an event-download ZIP now records who requested the download, with their name and email, and the IP address it was requested from, so exports carry an audit trail of who took footage and from where. Each clip's source is also now labelled "TetherBox" with the correct capital B.
• The Health Report now treats a TetherBox that has stopped recording for want of a storage drive as a critical issue at the top of the list, rather than a suggestion further down. When a unit has no storage drive connected it stops recording to protect its built-in card, so no footage is being kept at all, and the report now says so plainly and puts it above every other problem. Units that are still recording onto an undersized drive stay a suggestion as before.
• Hovering the live preview for a monitor-only camera that has no snapshot set up now shows a short "not configured" note instead of a broken image.
• The audit sessions page now loads faster.
• The Cameras list now shows an Audio column telling you whether each camera is actually recording sound, and the camera export (CSV and Excel) includes the same. A camera counts as recording audio only when audio is switched on and the recording stream genuinely carries a sound track, so you can spot at a glance which cameras have working audio.
• The Storage tab now makes clear when a drive's health readings are historical. When a drive has been unplugged, its SMART Health card is tinted amber, its heading shows how long ago the drive was last seen, and a note explains that the figures are the last data we had rather than live. Previously an unplugged drive's old readings looked like current information.
• Talk-down messages in the live view now come from the camera's own TetherBox timeline, so an operator who works across more than one site sees that camera's recorded messages instead of an empty list. The message menu also shows "No Recordings" when there are none, instead of an empty strip that looked broken.
• Playing an audio message, from either the live view or the event console, now shows a clear reason when it cannot play instead of doing nothing. When a camera has no speaker set, the message explains how to fix it and links straight to that camera's Audio output settings.
• An event with no footage yet now shows a clear "no recordings" message in the player area instead of a blank black box that looked broken. The real player still swaps in on its own as soon as the first recording arrives.

Bug Fixes

• Cameras no longer briefly drop out after a TetherBox software update. When a unit updates it reloads its settings and re-reports its cameras to the cloud, and a camera whose device was not being actively monitored could be removed from the box by mistake, cutting its live view and recording for a few minutes until the box found the device again. Devices now stay on the box through an update and are removed only when the device is actually deleted.
• Older TetherBoxes no longer show a false "reconnect your storage drive" alert. These units cannot report their drive status, so the health check now skips that warning for them instead of flagging a drive that is working fine.
• Storage drive health now reads certain SSDs correctly. Some drives (LiteOn and Plextor M6S models) were wrongly marked with a red "Critical" wear warning and shown an impossibly small amount of data written, because their maker reports these figures in a non-standard way. Wear is now judged from the drive's own remaining-life percentage, and the misleading lifetime-written figure is no longer shown for these drives.
• Healthy SSDs no longer show a false wear warning in the drive health summary. Some drives (such as the Samsung 870 EVO) report their wear count in a maker-specific way, so a nearly-new drive with almost no wear could be flagged in the summary while its own detail row correctly showed it as healthy. Wear is now judged from the drive's remaining-life percentage everywhere, so a healthy drive is no longer flagged.
• Storage drives are no longer flagged as too hot when they are running within their rated temperature. Surveillance hard drives such as Seagate SkyHawk are rated to run at up to 70°C, but the health check used a fixed 60°C limit and warned about drives that were working normally. Each drive's own rated maximum temperature is now used where the drive reports it, so a healthy drive running warm is no longer marked as overheating.
• Bulk editing cameras now saves device-level settings such as Disable API, Disable Defaults, camera username and password, ports and connection options. Previously these were silently discarded when changed from the bulk edit form, so the cameras kept their old settings.
• Camera bulk edit now shows the device connection settings with correct capitalisation (Force TCP, ONVIF Port, RTSP Port, URL Auth) instead of lower-cased labels.
• The full-screen button in the recording and event player now works on iPhone.
• Switching timeline no longer briefly shows another customer's data or reverts to the previously selected timeline on the next page you open.
• On mobile, changing the timeline on the Events page now closes the menu so you can see the refreshed results.
• Alert messages and status tables no longer sit slightly off-centre or run off the left edge on phones.
• Filtering a table down to fewer rows (for example on the TetherBoxes page) no longer leaves a block of empty space beneath the results.
• Filtering the Cameras list by Online no longer includes cameras whose TetherBox is offline. A camera cannot really be online when its TetherBox is down, so these now correctly show under Offline instead.
• The TetherBox and camera pages now update the online status live again. When a unit comes back online the status turns green on its own, without you having to reload the page.
• Moving a camera off the Alarm Only cloud plan now stops the daily alarm recording limit emails. Switching to Timelapse During Events, or to any other plan, could leave the alarm-only setting behind, so the camera kept warning that its daily alarm limit had been reached. The plan you pick on the slider is now the only thing that decides this.
• Deleting several events at once from the Events page now clears them all from the screen. Previously only the last one disappeared and the rest stayed on screen even though they had been deleted, until you reloaded the page.
• Scanning the network for new devices from the Network Devices page no longer fails with a "you are not authorised to access this page" error. Integrators and admins with network device access can now start a full network scan again, which speeds up commissioning when a TetherBox has not yet picked up the cameras.
• An internal storage drive that has been swapped out now correctly shows as "Unplugged" and no longer offers a Format button. Previously, after a drive was replaced (for example a boot drive upgrade), the old drive lingered in the Storage tab with a Format option, even though it was no longer connected.
• A storage drive that reports 0 bytes now shows a clear message instead of being called "too small for recording". This happens when a drive is dead, or when a USB adapter or enclosure is not presenting any storage. The health alert now explains the drive is connected but reports 0 bytes, and to try re-plugging it or replace it, rather than warning that a drive this size wears out fast (which made no sense at 0 bytes).
• When a TetherBox has stopped recording to protect its built-in storage, the health alert now says plainly that its cameras are NOT recording until you connect or replace the storage drive, rather than the softer wording that it is recording onto its small built-in storage. This happens on units where the only storage left is the built-in card (a small board with the external drive unplugged), which the box now refuses to record onto because constant recording wears the card out within months and loses all footage. Units that are still recording keep the softer wording.
• Timelapse works properly on phones again. The time slider no longer shows "Invalid date" or stops responding, dragging it now previews the frame under your finger straight away, and pressing play from the middle keeps loading the following frames. The scrub bar strip at the bottom is no longer too tall, the picture no longer flashes a loading spinner between every frame while playing, and the date and time above the scrub bar keep updating as playback advances.
• Updating your account settings from the pop-up form no longer shows a "this didn't load" error. The form now saves and closes cleanly.
• In timelapse, a missing frame no longer leaves an "Image Missing" message stuck over the picture. Once you drag the slider to a moment that has an image, the picture shows again instead of keeping the old error.
• On the Native Apps help page, the App Store and Google Play badges now open the store listing when clicked, instead of just showing a larger copy of the badge image.
• Following a link from an email while signed out now returns you to the exact page after you sign in. Previously the part of the address after the question mark was dropped, so the Submit Offline Report button in an offline alert would land you on the TetherBox page without the report form open.
• The picture shown for an event now uses the most interesting frame from the recording (a moving person first, then a face, then a moving vehicle) rather than whichever segment was recorded last, so an event's thumbnail better reflects what actually happened.
• The weekly Health Report summary counts now add up. The three tiles at the top read Critical, Noteworthy and Suggestions and match the sections below, so the total is consistent. Previously the tiles counted things differently from the headline (a suggestion was counted as an issue in one place but not the other), so a report could say "5 items" with tiles that summed to 6. Suggestions are advice for improvement and are now listed and counted separately from the issues to review.
• The pre-recorded message list in live-view talkdown now shows the messages recorded for the camera you are watching. An operator whose current timeline was not the one that owns the camera saw an empty list even though messages existed; the list and its Play button now follow the camera's own timeline. When there are no messages at all, the dropdown now says "No Recordings" instead of showing an empty strip that looked broken.
• Playing a message when no speaker is set for the camera now shows a clear error that says no audio output is configured and links straight to the camera's settings page, instead of playing nothing. On the event page this previously failed silently.
• The recording player on an event that has no footage yet now shows a clear "No recordings available" message instead of a blank black box that looked broken.
